Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

To operate the marketplace, we collect:

• Account info: full name, phone number, email, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
• Location: your province, district, and area/tole — used to show your listings to nearby buyers.
• Listings & messages: everything you post and the messages you send through the platform.
• Identity documents: only if you choose to verify your account (NID, citizenship, passport, or licence).
• Payment records: only for Featured Listing purchases — transaction amount, tier, and status. We never see or store your card, wallet, or bank details; eSewa and Khalti handle those directly.

2. How we use it

Your data is used to run the marketplace: showing your listings to relevant buyers, connecting you with sellers through messaging, verifying identity when requested, processing Featured Listing payments, preventing fraud and abuse, and complying with legal requests from Nepali authorities.

3. Who can see what

• Other users see your name, city/district, listings, and review history — never your exact address, phone number, or ID documents.
• Najikei moderators can access ID verification documents (solely to approve/reject verification) and reports filed against you.
• eSewa / Khalti receive only what's needed to process a Featured Listing payment — never your listings, messages, or personal profile.
• We never sell your personal data to any third party.

4. Where your data lives

Najikei is built on Appwrite Cloud infrastructure with per-document access permissions — messages are only readable by their two participants, verification documents only by you and moderators, and payment records only by you and Najikei staff. Passwords are hashed, never stored or visible to anyone, including us.

5. Your rights

You can view and correct your profile information anytime in Account Settings. You may request a copy of your data, or request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to §6 below and to records we're legally required to retain), by contacting us.

6. Data we must retain

Some records — payment transactions, moderation actions, and reports related to fraud investigations — may be retained even after account deletion where required for legal, tax, or law-enforcement purposes under Nepali law.

7. Cookies & local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your session, your language preference (English/Nepali), and recently viewed listings on your device. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

8. Who can use Najikei

Najikei is intended for users who have reached the age of majority under Nepali law (18 years). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Nepal, including the Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) and the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 (2008). We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be noted here with an updated date.
